I had somebody calculate the total year to date Return on Investment for the strawberries and raspberries. Here is what they came up with:
Strawberries - Initial outlay $23 + $10 for soil amendments and compost: Water = Zero. Used dehumidifer water or other saved water sources.Income - 1st Year - About 2-4 large bowls of strawberries. Roughly $20 worth of berries. 2nd Year - 7 litres of jam.

$56 worth of jam + a few bowls of strawberries we gave away + 4lbs for wine. About $20-$40.
ROI = 60% 1st year 290% 2nd Year
Raspberries - Everbearing red's. Initial cost - $15.80 for 5 plants + $10 for soil amendments and compost: Water - Zero. Raspberries are hardy enough without water. A little dehumidifier water here and there. Income - 1st Year - Raspberries were harvested constantly from August until November. Didn't keep track of numbers but estimate it was 1 pint a week. So $4 a week for 12 weeks. $36 first year income. 2nd Year - Bowls of raspberries with a second crop coming later in the season. Probably twice as much already as last year. Figure $72 in raspberries already. We had enough to use a pint per night and make chamboard and make 4 litres of jam. The jam alone is worth $32. $72 is probably a conservative estimate.
ROI = 139% 1st year 279% 2nd year
If you're a numbers person, hopefully this speaks to you. I plan to post other ROI reports in the future.
Have a great afternoon!
