cucumbers ready to pickle
I have a few pictures of things we've picked and made over the last few weeks...
We had 8 cucumbers from the CSA at one point, and we had just eaten at least two other cucumbers, so we decided to try making pickles. I just opened the first jar to see how they turned out, and they're pretty good for our first pickles. (I couldn't put up a picture without having tried them!)

We also have LOTS of tomatoes...

more tomatoes and blackberries...
a couple red plum tomatoes!

last minute bruschetta, goat cheese from the CSA
Last night we made bruschetta for dinner with some bread and olives from the Whole Foods Market, and some really good goat cheese from Yellow Springs Farm. (I get three kinds of cheese from them every other week, and it has all been really good!)

So far this year we have picked about 40lbs of tomatoes according to our nifty new food scale. We have canned a lot of the tomatoes, and made dinner with a few. I am hoping for more red tomatoes, personally, because there are TONS of yellow ones and I miss the red ones.

At that point last night we decided to pull the trigger on the next big kitchen purchase: an electric canner. This thing will be tall enough for my juice jars, so maybe I'll make tomato juice, or raspberry juice with the upcoming raspberry crop. (The raspberry vodka, which I made with Tito's btw, is REALLY good too!)
